On returning to PEI where I had spent 27 years I was so happy to return to to New Glasgow, have a lovely meal and browse the store. What really was memorable however was to see Bruce running around, as always, greeting buses clearing tables and generally making everyone feel at home. Good for you, a great success story. All the staff we had contact with were, just great also. I had not been back for five years but hope not to make it so long again. Thank you!

Your Very Berry has always been my personal favorite. My wife and I love your preserves. We have vacationed on PEI annually for eight years and visit your establishment often. Most recently we were there from Sept 6-19th and I think we ate there almost every day. Saw Bruce again and talked for awhile. Take care and I look forward to seeing you folks again next summer. Sincerely, Don & Donna Kaufman

Having just returned from a bus tour with Ambassatours to the Maritimes I would like to commend both you Bruce and your lovely wife Shirley for the excellent job you have done with that old Butter Factory. It was such a pleasure to have lunch and visit your wee spot of heaven on PEI. I could not take along as many jars as I wanted so have placed an order and a small note along with it. Then, I found this site for comments. So you will have a repeat. But I assure you they are worth it. I will spread your preserves all around our Okanagan Valley at every opportunity I get. I hope I will have an opportunity in the future to visit your location again and perhaps see your cottage. Sincerest Wishes to you both from, Hildegard Schmidt Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

Good morning, Bruce:

I wanted to share a few comments customers gave me over the last number of shifts. I believe the employer will hear complaints about product or service but I am not sure how often you hear the positives.

People who are disgruntled may take the time to call or write but don’t always call or write to show appreciation of good service.

Last Friday a Charlottetown businessman (I should have asked his name) approached me as he and his wife were getting ready to leave the Cafe. (As they were eating we were preparing for large groups.) He told me he and his wife had had breakfast at the Cafe for the last 6/7 mornings. He said, “We have had different servers, two hostesses and for each visit, the service was excellent, breakfast delicious, employees friendly, efficient and appropriately dressed. As a business person, I observe other businesses and how they run. You people gets things done productively with a smile. Your employer should be very pleased. Please pass on my words.”

On Sunday, a family of four when leaving told me they had visited the Cafe eleven times this summer. The dad said, ” We have been here for all three meal times, never had a bad meal; the servers have always been great. Today we had Irene, and she is fantastic, classy with a capital C. We hope to make it twelve times or more next summer.”

On Wednesday a lady who was in one of the cruise ship groups called me over after dessert had been served. (Actually, she hoped I might be Shirley. HA! She wanted to meet Shirley but I could not locate her at that time.) Anyway, she couldn’t get over how well organized the staff was to serve such a large group so quickly. She said you were to be congratulated on finding a group of employees who work well together, don’t waste time but take the time to be friendly and pass the time of day with their customers. And she LOVED the raspberry cream cheese pie!! Then she leaned over and whispered, “And I left a big tip for you all.”

There have been many more but those really stood out. I wanted to write them down to share with you before I forgot their phrasing. Hope you have a great day in New Glasgow.

I love visiting PEI, but certainly the highlight of the trip for me is a visit to The Preserve Co. Love eating there, shopping there and enjoy bringing “treats” home to enjoy. I love the place so much – it is truly wonderful and you are to be commended on the high quality of food, service and your surroundings. Love ya….. Hi Bruce! I wanted to thank you for your hospitality last month. My boyfriend, sister in law, and I took a tour from our cruise ship last month and had lunch at your lovely restaurant. I don’t know if you remember, but it was Chris’s birthday that day. And you ran in and brought him a jelly sampler out. Lunch was wonderful, and we have enjoyed your preserves!!! So have my kids and all my co-workers. Can’t get enough of the Strawberries and Grand Marnier! Especially nice on some warm, fresh southern biscuits. Any chance there will be a reduced/sugar free version soon? If not, I will just have to make the sacrifice! Love it all! Thanks again. Donna

I have just received a package of your wonderful preserves as a gift from a friend who has a summer home on PEI. I fell in love with your products and gardens when we visited there in 2007. Thank you. Sincerely, Marina Schaut
