Good morning, Bruce:
I wanted to share a few comments customers gave me over the last number of shifts. I believe the employer will hear complaints about product or service but I am not sure how often you hear the positives.
People who are disgruntled may take the time to call or write but don’t always call or write to show appreciation of good service.
Last Friday a Charlottetown businessman (I should have asked his name) approached me as he and his wife were getting ready to leave the Cafe. (As they were eating we were preparing for large groups.) He told me he and his wife had had breakfast at the Cafe for the last 6/7 mornings. He said, “We have had different servers, two hostesses and for each visit, the service was excellent, breakfast delicious, employees friendly, efficient and appropriately dressed. As a business person, I observe other businesses and how they run. You people gets things done productively with a smile. Your employer should be very pleased. Please pass on my words.”
On Sunday, a family of four when leaving told me they had visited the Cafe eleven times this summer. The dad said, ” We have been here for all three meal times, never had a bad meal; the servers have always been great. Today we had Irene, and she is fantastic, classy with a capital C. We hope to make it twelve times or more next summer.”
On Wednesday a lady who was in one of the cruise ship groups called me over after dessert had been served. (Actually, she hoped I might be Shirley. HA! She wanted to meet Shirley but I could not locate her at that time.) Anyway, she couldn’t get over how well organized the staff was to serve such a large group so quickly. She said you were to be congratulated on finding a group of employees who work well together, don’t waste time but take the time to be friendly and pass the time of day with their customers. And she LOVED the raspberry cream cheese pie!! Then she leaned over and whispered, “And I left a big tip for you all.”
There have been many more but those really stood out. I wanted to write them down to share with you before I forgot their phrasing. Hope you have a great day in New Glasgow.
Eleanor
